Champions League Broadcast Guide 2025-26 — TNT Sports UK Rights

Champions League rights in the UK sit with TNT Sports for 2025-26. Editorial guide to the new league-phase format, broadcast slots, and UK access.

The UEFA Champions League’s UK broadcast rights sit exclusively with TNT Sports for the 2024-27 cycle. Every match in the new league-phase format airs on TNT Sports’ channels or via Discovery+. Amazon Prime, which carried one Tuesday match per matchweek under the previous deal, lost its UK Champions League rights from 2024-25.

The competition itself changed shape in 2024-25. UEFA scrapped the eight-group, four-team format. The replacement is a 36-team league phase with each team playing eight different opponents. The top eight qualify directly for the round of 16; teams finishing 9th to 24th enter a knockout play-off.

Where Champions League matches air

All Champions League matches air on TNT Sports in the UK. Coverage runs across TNT Sports 1, 2, 3, and 4, with up to four matches simultaneously on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the league phase.

Discovery+ Premium streams every match, including those not televised live on TNT Sports’ linear channels. Subscribers get on-demand replays plus highlights packages.

The final airs on TNT Sports and is also typically simulcast free-to-air on a partner channel; the 2025 final was on Channel 4 in the UK as part of a TNT-Channel 4 sublicensing arrangement.

League-phase format explained

The new format works as follows. Thirty-six clubs enter a single league. Each club plays eight matches: four at home, four away, against eight different opponents. Matches happen on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings across eight matchweeks from September to January.

Teams ranked 1 through 8 in the final league table qualify directly for the round of 16. Teams ranked 9 through 24 play a two-legged knockout play-off in February. Winners go through to join the top eight in the round of 16. Teams ranked 25 through 36 are eliminated; there is no parachute drop into the Europa League any more.

The knockout rounds (round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, final) follow the traditional two-legged format, except for the final, which is a single match at a designated venue.

TNT Sports access for UK viewers

TNT Sports comes through three main routes. Discovery+ Premium at £30.99 a month gives full access via streaming, including all four TNT Sports channels and Champions League coverage. The contract is month-by-month with no minimum term.

BT and EE broadband customers can add TNT Sports for £18 a month. This route requires an active broadband contract and tends to lock to 24-month terms via the parent broadband deal.

Sky TV customers can add TNT Sports as a contract bolt-on through Sky’s platform, typically £18-£25 a month depending on the bundle.

Free-to-air Champions League

The final is the only match guaranteed free-to-air in the UK. Recent finals have been simulcast on Channel 4 (2025) or BBC One (2023). UEFA Super Cup matches are TNT Sports only.

Highlights packages run on Channel 5 (“The Champions Match”) on Wednesday and Thursday evenings during the league phase, free-to-air.
