The Premier League’s domestic broadcast rights split between Sky Sports and TNT Sports for the 2025-26 season. Sky carries 215 matches, TNT 52. Amazon Prime no longer holds Premier League rights in the UK after the 2024-25 season; the new four-year contract runs through 2028-29.
This is the single biggest shift in UK Premier League broadcasting in over a decade. The total live matches per season jumped from 200 under the old contract to 267 under the new one. Every kick-off bar Saturday 3pm now sits on a UK broadcaster.
Where Premier League matches air in 2025-26
Sky Sports holds the dominant share. Its 215 matches include every Sunday afternoon slot, the bulk of Monday Night Football, plus most midweek fixtures. The Sky Sports Premier League channel runs match coverage continuously through the season.
TNT Sports carries 52 matches. These are the Saturday lunchtime slot (12:30 kick-off), selected Saturday evening fixtures (17:30), plus Sunday afternoon when Sky takes a different match. TNT also holds Champions League rights, so the broadcaster’s football slate is heavy.
Amazon Prime is out. The streaming service ran 20 Premier League matches a season under the previous contract, typically the December bonus rounds. Those rights moved to TNT Sports for 2025-26.
What’s missing from UK broadcasts
The Saturday 3pm blackout remains. Premier League matches kicking off at 3pm on Saturdays do not air on any UK broadcaster, live. This is a longstanding rule from the football authorities, designed to protect lower-league attendances. Approximately 50-60 matches per season fall into this slot.
Highlights coverage is on the BBC. Match of the Day on BBC One on Saturday evenings carries Premier League highlights for every fixture, including the 3pm blackout matches. Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evenings covers the Sunday slate.
Pay-per-view returned briefly during the pandemic; it has not returned since. Every UK Premier League match is included in the relevant subscription.
Broadcaster pricing and access
Sky Sports’ standard route is via Sky’s TV bundle, currently from £36 a month for the Sky Sports Premier League channel. The streaming service NOW offers month-by-month Sky Sports passes from £34.99 a month. The NOW route works without a contract.
TNT Sports comes via Discovery+ Premium at £30.99 a month, or as an add-on to BT/EE broadband customers at £18 a month. The Discovery+ route includes Champions League and TNT’s full slate.
Combined Sky + TNT covers every UK-broadcast Premier League match plus Champions League. Total cost: roughly £65-£75 a month depending on the route.
Premier League season structure
The Premier League is a 38-matchday round-robin. Twenty teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. Total league matches: 380 per season. The season runs August to May, with international breaks in September, October, November, March, and June.
The bottom three teams relegate to the Championship. The top four qualify for the Champions League, fifth for the Europa League, and sixth for the Conference League play-off round.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Amazon Prime not showing Premier League this season? Amazon’s UK Premier League rights ended after 2024-25. They did not bid in the 2025-29 cycle. The 20 matches Amazon previously carried moved to TNT Sports.
Can I watch every Premier League match through one subscription? No. The Saturday 3pm blackout means around 50-60 matches per season are not broadcast in the UK. Of the matches that are broadcast, you need both Sky Sports and TNT Sports to see all of them.
What is the cheapest way to watch a specific match? Check which broadcaster has it (Sky or TNT) and use the relevant streaming service: NOW for Sky Sports day passes (£11.99), Discovery+ Premium for TNT (£30.99 a month, no day pass).
Are highlights free? Yes. Match of the Day on BBC One on Saturday nights and Match of the Day 2 on Sunday nights carry highlights of every Premier League match, including the 3pm blackout fixtures.
For broader context on UK football rights, see the football streaming guide. Champions League coverage sits with TNT Sports for the 2025-26 cycle.
